ST MATTHEW'S, ST ALBANS.

The Vestry, at its meeting in July, passed a resolution to call a parish meeting o-i 6th August for the' purpose of considering additions to the vicarage, in the s?hape cf adding two more rooms ami: a verandah to the present building, and also that a loan be raised to carry out this work. *Both proposals were mianimously carried^ It was stated .by the churchwardens that about £110 would be required, and that the cash in hand for this purpose was some £45, and promises- already given to the extent of some £20, equalling in all £65. A gentleman in the room offered to lend! the churchwardens and Vestry £50 without; interest! which was unanimously accepted. We understand the work is. 'tor be put in hand 1 at 'once. When finished, this will' allow the |tev Rogers to carry .out. what he has aimed at wherever he has been, viz., making the 'parishioners' feel at home in his ■home. ; ( ' Annual tea and concert will be held in St Matthew's Schoolroom on Thursday, 20th August (remember the date), at 6.30 p.m. The Rev j. H. Eogers will preside, and other clergy will be present. Admission to toth tea and concert, Is. Tickets can be had from the churchwardens, vestrymen and ladies of the committee 1 , and others.
