INVERCARGILL, June 15.
At the inquest touching the death of Charles Frederick M'Coinb, stationniaster at Centre Bush, the jury returned a -verdict of suicide by poison while in a state of temporary insanity, and added a recommendation that a fully qualified porter should be placed at the station during ths grain season. The indications were that death was caused by henbane seed, a packet of which, apparently purchased in Rangiora, was found in the deceased's room. The evidence showed that M'Corab was in financial straits, having recently been served with a summons from Waimate for £20 on a promissory note. He had complained of the porter being taken away from, kirn, and an inexperienced boy sent, making his work too heavy.
Donald 'Forbes, a private night-watchman employed by business people for some years, has not. been seen since Tuesday last. He suffered from, bronchitis and asthma. All efforts to trace him have failed, and it is feared that he has met his death.
