The Agent-General cables under date London, June 13:—"The mutton market is steady j average price to-day:-—Canterbury. 3fd per lb, Dunedin, Southland arid Wellington Meat Export Company,3£d, other North Island 3|d. River Plate is further reduced by one farthing per lb. This week's average price is now 3^d. Lamb is firm. Average price to-day—New Zealand, Canterbury brands sd, brands other than Canterbury 4jd. New Zealand beef is quiet. Prices are nominal. Hindquarters 4§d, forequarters 3d. " Transactions in butter are very limited at 94s per cwt. " Cheese is steady at 65s per cwt. "Hemp is quiet, with no alteration in 'prices this week, but the tendency is in favour of buyers. ,: " Stocks of Manila hemp on hand are considered very heavy. ' " Cocksfoot seed is quiet. Tfbe present value is 46s per cwt c.i.f. London."
