THE PREMIER.
A VISIT TO THE PENINSULA. [From Our Correspondent.] LITTLE RIVER, June 11. The Premier left Christchurch. for Akaroa at 8.40 this morning, accompanied. by Mr T. E. Taylor, M.H.R., MrC. Lewis, and Mr G. Laurenson, jfc.H.R He stopped at Motukarara, to lay the foundation-stone of the new Town Hall. At the station he was presented with an address by Mr Harris, chairman of the Hall Committee. After the ceremony, Mr Lewis, M.H.R., introduced a deputation, which asked for Government aid in roading and draining. The Premier said he would inquire into the matter, but he was of opinion that local bodies should help themselves in such matters, if xiecessarv, by borrowing from the Government. Mr Seddon then had lunch and left for Little River by special train at noon. He will .address a public meeting in Akaroa to-night and return to Christchurch to-morrow.
