SIR JOSEPH WARD.
[Per Press Association.] NAPIER, June 10. A deputation, representing all the local bodies, waited on Sir Joseph Ward this morning to urge the necessity of the Government improving the means of communication by iand' and sea with Wairoa, with a view to opening up Lake Waikaremoana, to tourist traffic. Sir Joseph Ward, in reply, said he recognised that the tourist resorts were one of the most valuable assets of the colony, and the Government was doing its utmost to develop them. At the same time it must treat each district fairly and keep within the 'bounds of reasonable expenditure. He- promised -to do all in his power to accedle to the wishes of the deputation. .
