Mr Fielder, assistant accountant in the head . office, Wellington, whose place is to *b» taken by Mr Clayton, of Auckland. An old West Coaster passed away last week in the person of Mrs'-Debenbam, who was seventy .three years of age, and had been on the Coa«t since 1866. . The deafens ]."■ are also announced of Mr John Nethexway, of Ku»ara, who was sixty-five years' of age, and came to the colony forty-three years tgo, arid Mrs Ann Q'Donnell, sixty-seyeto years of. age^ who was one of the earliest residents of Hpkitika. ; , Mr and Mrs: Edward M'Kenna, of Vfmrtoui, celebrated their golden wedding yesr terday. Both are esteemed colonists. Mr , ifKenna landed /in 1846, with* the 65th Regiment, in- which he. served for twenty-" on-9 years, during which time he fought in various engagements with the Natives between 1846 and 1866, and was for a short time under Major von Tempsky. Gallantry in the field won him the coveted V.C. and a commission as ensign. He sold put when the regiment returned to England, 8.n3 subsequently entered ihe railway service, with which he has now been connected for over thirty-six .years on the Invercwgill, Canterbury and Wanganui sections.
