Mr B. R. Wise, the New South Wales Attorney-General, hits returned from London. Oil being interviewed, he said it seemed to him that tho attack on Australian credit was not inspired so much by. mistrust of our finances as dislike of our politics. Australia had better hold off the money market for tho present. There was only a certain amount available for investment, a-nd we could not force investors to lend us their money if they did not want to. Heavy demands for South Africa- had left; very little money for colonial loans. What was wanted was an improvement in our knowledge of each other. This could ba done by Parliament cheapening the means of communication. A cable service which would allow Prc?s messages to be sent between England and Australia at one penny a. word would give us a, better understanding of events and representation of
