MUNICIPAL CONCERT No. 26.

The Wools-ton Band played on the Rotunda, in Victoria Square last Thursday evening, wlieu the attendance of the public ivn-j piobabiy n.s largo as it lias been at any ono' of the municipal concerts. The programing was of the. popular order and was keenly iii'iproeialcd. Mr Ord-numc's tuneful march, •\B.B. and C.F.,'l. was llic opening ltojn. It was undoubtedly tLe most spirited piece of work of the evening, and the band showed to advantage. A waltz, "The Lovers," followed, but this may be passed over, as it was a simple arrangement, with little to recommend it. Tlit principal item, a selection from, Wvbe-r's '" Euryanihe," was next. The netting of this did not appear to suit the band, and the only movement in it in which good work was 'shown was that in which rhe elipliouimn solo occurs. This was de-sew-ing of praise, for Bandsman Est.all played in a telling manner, and he was ably backed up by the excellent accompaniment. This movement, too, is a. pretty one, which is more than can be. said for the rest of the selection. " The Happy Cotton Pickers," a rag-time sketch. The Pansy '' quadrilles. "Sea. Songs" selection, "The Elf's Dance" waltz, "The Rustler" march and tdi-e National Anthem completed the programme. !No doubt the people of Chris% church will be sorry now the concert- season , is about over. Before next season a great | change may be looked for in the Wook-ton Band, as a* new set of instruments will probably be gone in for and a much better tone- will be produced, and the result .should , be the turning out of the best brass band that Christchurch has ever had.
