DETENTION OP POLITICAL PRISONERS. United Press Association — By Electrio Telegraph — Copyright. (Reoeived March 7, 8.57 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, March 6. Sir Gordon Sprigg, in reply to a deputation of Moderates, said ifc was difficult to justify the detention of political prisoner* for offences lesser than those who fought to the end of the war, and for whioh the latter w£re merely disfranchised. He announced thafc Parliament-, elected on the new register, would meet in January. (Sir Gordon Sprigg also said that he hoped that, by union and reconciliation, the Cape would become the premier oolony of South Africa, which was her right. Parliament would meet in June, and in order to avoid controversy would mainly restrict! itself to discussing publio works.)
