— ♦ [Peb Pbess Association*.] GREYMQUm Jan. 19. A debate took place in the -Opera House to-night between the Rev J. Trestrail, a-i, Wesleyan clergyman, and Mr T. H. Smith, ) en behalf of the licensed, victualler--*, on the • -programme issued last 'November. The building was crowded to suffocation. Opinion was divided as to the debate. The meeting : was orderly. Mr Guinness was- in the chair, and the kept' both speakers to tlie point. Roth were cheered at the conclusion. As a result of the debate the local Hospital will benefit to the extent pf nearly 4150, M* Trcstrail announced that he would have the debats r.ported, aud published ift pamphleb. form. / : r7 ~~- ' ~
