At an indignation meeting pf citizens, helci last night,' alarm was expressed at the piesent indebtedness qf the ' Qity Cciuncil to tnje bahk^ ama a resolution was carried urging that -tlie overdraft should be nsed; only for temporary purposes, and tbat borrowing of a more permanent nature should not be r-ssorted to unless sanctioned! by the ratepayer by vote. This motion (refers to thc action of the Council -in deciding to erect municipal chambers. The work will entail an overdraft of* £3000, tbbugh the ratepayers haye twicO refused to pass a Town Hall loan. T^ie meeting also resolyed thatj owing to its ignoring the recent poll requesting iit by a imajarity of 318 to offer a street site for a post- office, the Council has forfeited the copiidciice of the ratizens. tt- was further to forward! a cqpy of t-Ef first resolution to tbe (3e^iep^l Manager of the Bank of New Zealand: ,
