THE VOLUNTEERS.

The camp of the Queen's Cadets ab New Brighton was struck this morning. Work commenced at an early hour, and toy six o'clock all the tents were down and packed up. Captain Lane desires to thank the tramway officials foF the kindness and. courtesy they have invariably shown to all the* members of the corps whilst in camp, ' and the New Brighton Tramway Company for issuing free passes and running special cars. He also desires,- on behalf of the corps, to thank Mr Haynes for allowing the lads v on to the pier free of charge. To-morrow evening the Cadets' physical drill team will leave for Dtraedin, to take part in the! military tournament to be held there on Boxing, Day. It will probably return on Sunday. . Members of the Volunteer corps of this district are taking a keen interest in the military tournament, to be held at Dunedin during the Christmas holidays. Two hundred and sixty-five men, representing eighteen companies, will journey to Dunedin to-morrow to take part in the competitions.
