DEATH OF A MAORI WARRIOR.
[From Oxm Cobkkspondbnt-1 WELLINGTON, Dec. 23. Word has been received in town of the death at Turakina on Sunday of the wellknown Maori chief Karena Temano Otawhaki, at the age of eighty-sis. . The deceased served with the British forces against the Hauhaus, and was engaged at Te Ngutotemanu and Taurangaika and through the Waikato war, in which he was wounded. For the •distinguished services which hfe rendered he received the New Zealand war, medial, fie married a daughter of the late Dr Martin. His funeral will take place tomorrow.
