FIRES.
[Per Press .Association.] WELLINGTON, Dec. 23. A building in Willis Street, owned by Mr R. Martin and occupied by Mr F. W. Gough, an engineer and 1 cycle manufacturer, and Mr A. Wedegs, a furniture maker, was destroyed by fire early this morning. The insurances were — On the building £200 in the "Commercial Union Office, Gough's ptock, etc., £300 in the Australian Alliance Office,, aad Wedegs's stock, etc., £100 in the South British Office. A boarding-house adjoining, belonging to the Fox Estate, and occupied by Mrs Bell, was severely damaged. The insurances were— Building £500 in the South British Office, and Mrs Bell's furniture £100 in the Alliance Office. ASHBURTON, Dec. 23. Huston and Son's general store on the East Belt was totally destroyed by fire aboiit 2.30 o'clock this morning. The building and stock were insured in the North- British Office for £275.
