AN ENGLISH TRAGEDY.
SUICIDE OE A WAITRESS. The suicide of Annie Mary irwin, aged twenty-six, a waitress, of Shepherd's Bush. Road, was inquired into by the Hammersmith Coroner. The deceased, it was stated in evidence, was housekeeper to William Hoare, a joiner. There was a tacit agreement when she came to his house, that 5f they suited each other they would marry, but they were of different temperament, and could not get on, and Hoare, a widower with four children, became engaged- to a widow. Some time ago the deceased said; to a lodger, "I shall take poison" and do away •with myself, as he is go-ing to bring someone else here." Hoare said he offered to pay for a room for the deceased' af she would go. , In a letter left behind the deceased wrote : " I shall be dead before you get this. I -am miserable." After some deliberation the jury returned a verdict of suicid© while temporarily in--sane. They added a rider censuring Hoare r for the " unsatisfactory and unwilling way in which he had given his evidence." —™~— ———■——■——■— i
