[Peh, Pbess Association.] TIMARU, Dec. 22. The quarrymen's strike ended at noon today. Nearly all the men resumed work this afternoon. _____ ___ ' ♦!

The Secretary of the Trades and Labour ' Council telegraphed to the Premier this morning inquiring whether tho Government could interfere with the dispute between the Tima.ru Harbour Board and the men employed in -the quarry. Mr Seddon repliedi : I " Quarrymen at Timaiu not having a Union, the Labour Department caunot intervene. I should 1 bo happy to act as mediartor, and if the parties are agreeable I j will send down Mr Tregear, Secretary for Labour, to see what can be done to adjust the matter."
