WHAT THE WATER COMPANY ADVISED.
Recently an Irishman presented himself before the Liverpool Magistrates, and askecb for advice on this point. "Sorr," he said, "I kapes hens in my cellar, but th' wather-pipes is burst, an 1 me hens is all dirowndled." "Sorry I can't do anything for you," said the Magistrate; "you had. better apply to the water company." A few days afterwards the man appeared again. "Well, -what now? What did the water company tell you?" queried the Magistrate. . , "They tould 1 nie, yer Honor," was the reply, "to kape ducks."
