SALVATION ARMY
♦ OPENING OP NEW BARRACKS AT ♦ LYTTELTON. The new barracks erected for the Salvation Army, in London Street, Lyttelton, were opened yesterday evening. Mr J. Grubb, Mayor of the Borough, unlocked the doors and declared the building open, and then a large number of members of the Army and sympathisers with it sat down to a tea meeting. After the tea a public meeting took place, under the presidency of the Mayor. Major Lipsett and the members of the headquarters staff were present. The Christchurch Salvation Army Band played selections. Solos were sung by Adjutant Neilson and Captain Law, and addresses were given by the Mayor, Major Lipsett, the Rev J. Pattison, and Messrs G. Laurensonv M.H.R., J. S. Olliver and Miller. The building was densely crowded, and a number of persons were unable to gain admission. A collection was made and a very satisfactory ' amount was realised. <
