VIOLENT DEATHS IN SYDNEY.
AN ALARMING INCREASE. The record "of violent deaths in Sydney has; lately, increased to an alarming extent, and during the past month, excluding Sundays, the City Coroner and his staff were called upon* to- deal -with no lees tiban fortytwo cases, only one or two lower than- thel record. The work of tiat department has, in. f&cti become so heavy that ifc lhas been, found necessary to secure additional denca! assistance, and 1 yet on on© or two occasions recently the staff (has been engagedl unifcil ' early in> tfye evening investigating *he various cases. A glance at th« recent records shows tlhaft tram accidents, lift fatalities, 'hanging and other foTms of suicide are all proportionately heavy.
