MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
, "♦" ' The annual meeting of the Woolston Methodist Band of Hope was held on Friday evening. There was a large attendance and the Rev T. F. "ones presided. Solos were sung by Misses Gertie Cockburn, .Eva Warick, M. Cocker, G. Piper, Mrs Burns, Mrs Sheard and Mr Bensley, a read-ing-was given by Miss Moore, and recitations were given by Miss Dora. Major, Miss Nellie Ransley and Mr Jenkins. At the close of tho meeting seventeen persons signed the pledge. The election of officers resulted as follows:— President, Rev T. F. Jones; vice-presidents, Messrs Gimblett, M'Harg, Trerise and Martin; 'secretary, M'ss R. Moore ; assistant secre&ry, Mr D. Rouse ; treasurer, Mr Jenkins ; ' pianist, Miss Trerise ; musical director, Mr Martin ; committee, Mrs Martin, Mis Jones, Miss Moore, Messrs Trerise, Joll and Reading. ' "There was a large attEndance^at a meeting in the Lyttelton Wesleyan Schoolroom on Monday night, when a Ping-pong and Social Club was formed in connection, with tha Lyttelton Methodist Church. It was decided to open the club on Thursday next, June 5, and continue ifc weekly thereafter, on Thursday and Monday nights alternately. Tho following were *ek«ted as officers: — President, Rev F- J- Tylee; vice-presidents, Mrs Bromley and Messrs J. R> Webb/S. R.. Webb, Brown, J. Pitcaithly, W. Radcliffe and J. S. Oilivier and Sergeant-Majpr Wfrbb ; captain,* Mr W. G. Stewart ; vioecaptain, Mr J. Bradley ; secretary, MrAV. Luke ; treasurer, Mr A. Foster ; committee, Misses E. V. Bromley, Howe, Wylie, A. M'Auliffe, R. Webb and Buckley, and Messrs W. Foster, Clyngwe, Lord, A. Webb aad W. Pitcaithly.
