The speakers at yesterday's meeting "of commercial men and pastorali-ts declared that the present drought waa the wprsf ex» ' perienced during the last sixty yeirsy New South Wales, during, the last eight years, had lost twenty million sheep ; Victoria, , seven millions ; and Queensland two millions. All the larger stations were feeding stock and spending thousands of pounds. Mr Crick, who recently visited the back country, declared that there had been nothing like the present disaster since 1340. Even gum treses were dying fo? want of moisture. • The obtaining of New Zealand grain, po* tatoes and other produce was advocated. (Received May 29, 9.35 a.m~) SYDNEY, May 29.
