Owing to the recent capped shot experiI ments, six cruisers of the County class in iast year's naval programme ar^e being redesigned with a view of providing them with six-inch instead of four-inch armour. (The cruisers of the County or Monmouth class are 9800 tons displacement and 18,000 home-power. They are to carry fourteen six-inch and thirteen small quick-firing guns. Their speed is to be twenty-three knots.) .
