ADDINGTON YARDS.

THIS DAY. TFkr the "Star's" Pigeon Express] Medium entries were the rule in most classes of stock to-day, and there was a good attendance. Fat Cattle. — The yarding comprised 152 head, the bulk of which were light to medium heifers and cows. Steers were very scarce, only half-a-dozen fair sorts coming to auction, a *ew prime being sold privately. The sale opened at about last week's rates, but the short supply caused a considerable improvement, and beef ranged from 17s 6d 'to 24s per 1001 b, steers making £b 10s to £8 10s, heifers £5 6s to £8 17s 6d, and cows £5 to £8 17s 6d. Stobe and Daiby Cattle.— There were small entries of secondary sorts in both classes, and- business- is not brisk. Fat Sheep. — There was a heavy yarding, a large proportion being ewes, but the quality all i*ound is good, especially so in merinoes. Owing to tlje large entry of fat lambs, the sale will be late in starting. Fat Lambs. — The entry of 5350 included a much larger iproportdon than usual of prime quality. For these there was a good demand amongst freezing buyers, with a slight improvement in prices. Exportbuyers secured 2000 at from 12s 6d to 14s 6d, ths majority making 13s to 14s. Over 1000 went to butchers at 10s 9d to 15s 3d, and nearly 400 were passed at lis 8d lo 13s, very few going to graziers. Store Sheep. — The bulk of the yarding of 2489 were lambs, and for these there was a very good demand, with an improvement in prices. A line of 336 two and four-tooth wethers, in the wool, made 13s, and small lots of shorn 12s sd. Small lots of lambs made 10s Bdl to lis 6d, while 342 brought lis ld, 400 -10s 9d -to lis, 300 10s 6d, and 268 10s sdl to 10s 7d. Two fairsized lines of ewes, with laanbs, were passed at 8s 2d and 8s 7d, amd a few small lots of seooiudary brougiht 6s 3d to 6s lOd, all counted. Pigs.— The yarding of pigs was a large one, includinig a lot of very prime haconers. Owing to the (factories -being . bare, there was 'keen competition for these, and prices rose aibout 4« per head/ Porkers were 'slightly weaker, and the demand foi- stores was not strong. Baconers made from 35s to 45s for light, aaid up "to 53s for heavy, averaging 3|d per lb ; porkers 22s to 325, equal to 3|d ; stores 12s to 20s, and suckers a^d weaners 5s to 10s. — — ■—««■— mmmmmm
