(Received Jan. 6, 9.20 a.m.) x ' LONDON, Jan. 5; " Lord Salisbury, replying to a communication from the Protestant Alliance, stated that he did not intend to legislate against the alleged Jesuit invasion of England. (A few months ago a good deal of alarm was caused in England by statements in th« London newspapers that Jesuit priests were arriving in large numbers at Dover, and were being sent to different spots in. the country. The- "invasion," as it was called, continued for a considerable time, and it was urged by rome sections of • the community that steps should be taken, to stop it. This Protestant Alliance gave exprea-* sion to the alarm by a communication, to the Prime Minister, and Lord Salisbury*?statement, published above, is a reply to : this.
