Canterbury bands are quiescent, and the N.Z.8.8. Association still hibernates. Mr W. F. M'Lean has resigned from the conduotorship of the Lytbelton Town "Band. ! Kaiapoi and Rangiora have had quite a I good time, and! live Christmas and" New Year season has been such as. redounds to their credit — and otherwise. Christchurch was not disturbed by so many nocturnal bands as usual on Christanas and New Year's Eves. The cause was patent, and the relief to many a weary one was welcome. Candidly, many of the combinations could not be considered musical combination's.
