MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
There was a large attendance at the Hor relville Wesleyan Church on Friday even ing, when the closing meeting for the yeai of th? local temperance society was held. The chair was occupied' by Mr Isaac Waiting. The programme consisted of a, num ber of vocal selection?, which were muci: appreciated by the audience. An address was given by Miss Roberts. The question of the new L'icens-ing Bill was introduced, and on th© motion of Mr T. Horrell. seconded by Mr Hawaii, a motion was unanimously carried protecting .against the section giving the Colonial Secretary power tc issue licenses in " tourist " districts.
