Boslock, of menagerie fame, »tried this experiment. He .vent his 100 years old crocodile Ptolemy over the Falls. This animal is a splendid swimmer, very cautious, and has a hide as tough sis six thicknesses of sole leather. Kaily one morning he was towed out from Navy Island- and) set free. As ho passed over the mighty cataract Ptolemy was aroused out of his usual calmness. With a mighty effort he raised himself part- ]\- out of ithe water and waved 'his forearms wildly in th© air. Then he passed over the great Falls, which have the power to light the- whole of the United States of America. He had ■to fall not only 164 ft, but to go down into the tremendous holo which the water had hollowed out beneath by its age-long falling.
