[Per I'niiss Association.] NAI'IKR. Oct. 18. A four-roomed cotl-uge in Swan Street, 'owned by Mr P. JJ.-irry, ami occupied by two young men r.amed IJennctt ami Cameron, was totxlly destroyed by tiro shortly .-iftsr eight- o'clock thi? morning. The building wiih irs-sure-tl for £200 in t)ie Royal Ottice, uiui the occupants had insured their effects for £50 each. A small five occurred in the New Zealand Shipping Company's wcol store at Lyttelton this morning. It was discovered by Mr John Haydon, who noticed .smoke issuing from the building. He gave the alarm, and the fire-bell was rung. The Fire Brigade promptly turned our, the door was forced open, wad it was found tlr.it the smoke arc-a from a smouldering heap of ashes aga.in-sfc ths roof. The lire was soon extinguished with a bucket or two of water. A slight than ing of the post was tho only damage dor:?.
