.DUELS IN RUSSIA.. The two- Wittgenstein duels contiane to form the subject of universal discussion in the St Petersburg salons, and the affair is not at an end. Lieutenant-Colonel Maximoff , formerly in the Russian Cuiraesier3, atd also of Abyssinia and Ladysmibii fame, stot and killed in a duel the ycaog/ Prince Sayn Wittgenstein, a relative of ths late Prince Hohenlohe and an officer of the Czar's Household. In this case some rudeness by certain lady companions of the Prince to Colonel Maximoff, who resented it, was the cause of the meeting. Hearing of his brother's death, an elder brother of the young prince chalkpfped Lieutenant-Colonel Makimoff to a duel -witjj aabres. It lasted twenty minutes, and the Prince had his upper arm badly slashed in a furious encounter, and waa completely disabled. , Two officers* standing by the prince at once challenged the. victor, but they (hare been obliged by the Minister of War to •withdraw their challenges and apologise.
