OBITUARY.
A THEATRICAL MANAGER

SYDNEY, July 19. The death is announced of Mr Fred Hiscocks, well-known in theatrical circles:
(Mr F. Hiscocks was well-known in theatrical circles as an entrepreneur and theatrical manager. In the later seventies and early eighties he leased the Christchurch Theatre Royal, in conjunction with Mr Hayman, and it was during. their joint lesseeship that many notable attractions visited the town, among them being William Creswick, Wybert Reeve, Hudson's Surprise Party, and the Lingards. Hiscocks and Hayman's. Minstrels were also organised by the lessees, and toured the aolony on several occasions.)

Mr Qharles Hull, who has been a member of 'the "Lyttelton Times" literary for ,teh. past twenty-five years, •. died at his residence, Barbadoes Street,, 'to-day. He-Lai? been ailing, for some time past, and had. been unable to leave his bed during .the,4>ast- fortnight. Mr Hull and his wife arrived in the colony about thirty years ago, and the deceased gentleman at first entered into -tie employ of Messrs H. J. Wood- and Co., stationers, with wihom he remained; for five or six vents. During this' itime also he conducted- art classes for instruction in black" and white, at which He was an expert. Having also given specimens of bis literary ability he joined toe staff of the " LytteLton Times" in 1876, and has been so employed ever since, first as special reporter, then sub-editor, and till a later period as editor of the "Star." During the past few years he has controlled the art department of the " Canterbury Times."
