After the official reception the returned troopers were entertained at tfhe Strand Oaf e^by the local Volunteer officers; The Governor was present. His Excellency, in reply to a toast, said that it gave him great pleasure to be present, but ihe would not detain them from mising with their friends. The 1 Primate (Bishop Cowie) said he 'had! great pleasure in welcoming the troopers who !had returned from, ' South, Africa. He could appreciate the work they had done there, and they ihad behaved themselves like soldiers. He had 1 received a communication to this effect from. Lord Roberts.
