THE RAILWAY TRAFFIC.
NORTH LINE. The rail traffic on the north line yesterday was, if anything, heavier than on Jubilee Day, the train which left Rangiorai at 8.35 a.m. conasitang of fifty-one carriages and seated waggons, which were filled before reaching Christchurch. This was a record passenger train for the line, the previous longest one being forty-five carriages and waggons, on jAilee day. All the evening, and night trains ran considerably late; nevertheless, the railway officials deserve the highest praise for the expert) and, safe , .way in which they handled the heavy r Raffle, j»Qi aeeide&t of any kind being reported lip to the present. The train from Ouiverden this morndng was purposely delayed about half-an-hour, to allow the Ohristohuroh station to be clear for the despatch of the Royal train.
