These disclosed that generally -there was a. very suitable bottom for laying/the Pacific cable. Th« deep soundings taken gave a depth of two miles and a* half. A Jarge range of mountains was discovered, 1600 ft 3xigh, sixty miles long and; thirty in breadth. The cabi« wll lav© to go round. 1 these moun* tain*. It is proposed to land iihd cabl« at Ansca's Bay, -where the company has secured 100 acres of laud. It is understood tha* Norfolk IsUvnd will be a repeating station, and a laiig« staff wiU be kept there. Alter a stay of a few days the Britannia will resume taking soundings to the Bay of Isfrnrfs, VB^&em-l^m^, ... '.
