PRESENTATIONS.
The office staff of the City Council met at fcb* Clarendon Hotel yesterday evening, to present Mr Murray, the retiring assistant town clerk, with. a. slight memento of the esteem in -which . 'he\ was held 'ay the officers. The presentation, a handsome marble clock, was made by the senior officer, Mr Stringer, who, in a few words, expressed the regret that they all felt at the departure of Mr Murray, and wished him every success in any new undertaking that he might embark in. Mr Murray thanked the donors for their handsome present, and expressed the opinion that he had been very unfairly treated by the Council, who, instead of giving him the promotion f«r^ which he had looked forward" for twentyfive years, had thought fit to retire lam, without giving any reaaon.
