CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW.
THE ANNUAL EXHIBITION
The annual show of the Christchurch Chrysanthemum; Society was opened at the Art Gallery this afternoon by the Mayorelect, Mr 'A. E. G. Rhodes. There was a large attendance of the public. The exhibition was decidedly a most successful one as far as the quality of the exhibits was concerned, and many were worthy of special mention. In the groups for exhibition only Mr C. Carmichael's beautiful display was very highly commended. In the open division some splendCd. specimens were shown, and in the groups staged for effect Mr T. Coverd'ale's exhibit was a very fine one, and took first prize. In the same class Mrs M. White hod staged a very effective display for exhibition only, and it was very highly commended. In the decorative section some artistic work was exhibited, particularly so in the decorated table class, the result of which is to be determined by ballot. Several decorations in white and a few in autumn gold tints proved' very effective.
