1 A West Coast compositor has patented an improvement in dredging scoops. Tho Consolidated dredge's return for the week was Boz for 115 hours' dredging. .The third progress payment has b«en made on the Ked Jack's, dredge, and the timber for the pontoons is arriving daily. The dredge is expected to be at work by the end of March. The prospects on the Baden-Powell or Lucky Gap special claim, situated between tb.6 Maliinapna and Aylmer Lead claims have proved so rich that the Dunedin proprietors have decided to lose no time in .putting it on the market. The Leviathan Company expeota to comr. mence work about Nov. 12. , .-•-,- The tables of the Dobson No. 2 dredge were designed by the dredgemaster, Mr M. Newel!, and are constructed in such, a manner thEt they will give a drop of three inches from mat to ■teat on three occasions. They arc topped with a wire netting, underneath which, is the ordinary cocoanut matting and heesian mat. The tables are of iron, with a spread of 18ft by 12ft, and a fall of ljin to the foot. The Waipuna dredge return for the week was 7oz 4dwt, but it will be at least two 'weeks bsfor the dredge will get on to the ground proper. ■
