WEDDING AT ST ALBANS.

A very pretty wedding took place afe St Matthew's Church, St Albans, on Thursday afternoon, wflien Miss Elizabeth Sophia. (Bessie) Forwood, only daughter of Mr H. Forwoodj of St Albana, was married to Mr John Duncan Bu»ftanan. The Church was prettily decorated for the. occasion by the friends of the brkie. The ceremony, which was performed by JRev A. W. Averill, vicar of St i Michael's, Sisslsted by Rev H. Williums, vicar of St Matthew's, was full choral, the bride having been a member of the choir, and the bridegroom organist of St Matthew's Church. Mr Lake, the present organist, played the " Wedding March." Both bride and bridegroom possess a large circle of friends in the district, and the esteem and regard in which both are held was plainly evinced by the crowded attendance at the Church, many persons being unable to gaan admittance. The bride looked charming in a handsome gown of white silk w,th lace and passementerie trimming, yoke and sleeves of chiffon. She wore the usual bridal veil and orange blossoms, carried a very beautiful shower bouquet of white flowors and maiden-hair and a gofld and diamond bangle, the bridegroom's gift to her. She was attended by four bridesmaids, the Misses Nellie and Lucy Habgood (cousins qf the. bride), and Misses .Maud and Maxwell Buchanan' (sisters of the bridegroom), each wearing pretty white muslin dresses and trimmed. Leghorn liats. Each carried a pTetty bouquet and wore a gold bar brooch witih. their initials thereon,, the gift ol the bridegroom. The bride was glvuai away by lier father. The bridegroom was, attended by Mr J. Fielding as best man, and Mr W. Habgood as groomsman, and as the happy couple left the church they were showered with rice and good wishes from all sides. Mis Forwavd (mother of the bride) wore a very handsome gown of black silk brocade, trimmed with white silk and covered with black lace, and a pretty black and white bonnet trimmed with sequins and ospreys. Mi's BuchaJian (mother of the bridegroom) wore a stylish black figured silk dress, trimmed with heliotrope silk and bonnet to match. After the ceremony, an> "At Home " was held at the residence of the bride's parents. A large marquee was erected, where Mr and Mrs J. D. Buchanan received the con- ■" gratulations of their many friends, and, : where a dainty repast and afternoon tea was dispensed. The wedding cake wa9 a magnificent one, three tiers in. height. The bride's travelling dress was a grey ' summer tweed coat and skirt, with white ' suiin front a.nd revers covered with lace, pretty bkek Leghorn hat, trimmed with j white tulle and black and white feathers. j Mr and, Mrs Buchanan left by the 5.15 p.m. train en route for Dunedin, where the honeymoon is to be spent.
