CARNIVAL WEEK.
' NINE DAYS' AMUSEMENTS. A LIST OF ATTRACTIONS. On account of the approach of th© Jubilee celebrations, the attractions for Carnival Week this year will be more numerous than usual, and will offer greater inducements to the citizens of Christchurch and i visitors' to give themselves up to amusement. Although Jubilee Day- will be in December, the; Jubilee celebrations will virtually begin on Thursday, when the Exhibition will be opened. The following is a list of fixtures for nine days : — Thursday. — Opening of the Jubilee Exhibition by the Governor, 2 p.m. ; Exhibition concert, 8 p.m. ; Theatre Royal, Pollard!*s Opera Company, " Maritana," 8 p.m. ; Opera House, Dixs Gaiety Co. , 8 p.m. (and every evening) ; Qddfelldws' Hall, Fuller's Bijou Company, 8 p.m., (and every evening). Friday. — Plumpton Park Trotting Club's t races, noon ; t opening of the Canterbury Jubilee Imperial Carnival by the Governor, I Gloucester Street, 7 p.m. ; Theatre Royal, Pollard's Opera Company, ".The Belle of New York," 8 p.m. I Saturday. — Canterbury Jockey Club's races, Riccarton, ; New. Zealand Cup Day ; Theatre Royal, Pollard's Opera Company, " Boccaccio," 8 p.m. Monday. — Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting, Riccarton, Derby Day ; Theatre Royal, Pollard's Opera £ompony, " Djin Djin," 8 p.m. ; Choral Hall, Jubilee Singers, 8 p.m. (and every evening) ; Canterbury Cub's Electric Light Carnival (evening) Lancaster Park. ' Tuesday. — New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's races, Addington, noon ; Theatre Royal, " Djin Djin," 8 p.m. Wednesday. — Metropolitan Show, first day; Canterbury Jockey Club's Meeting, Riccarton, Canterbury Cup Day ; Theatre Royal, Pollard's Opera Company, 8 p.m. ; Canterbury Jockey Club's Ball. Thursday. — Metropolitan Show, reconcl 'day ; Plumpton Park races ; Theatre Royal, Pollard's Opera Company, 8 p.m. Friday. — Metropolitan Show, third day; New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's Taces, Addington, noon ; Theatre Royal, Pollard's Opera. Company, 8 p.m. ; Pioneer Club's Electrio Light and Fireworks Display, Lancaster Park, in evening.
