■O" A social gathering was held at Ashbur•ton last evening, in the Central Hotel, to bid fareAvell to Mr Frank Pritcha.rd, a prominent local footballer, who is leaving Ashburton to take up a position with Messrs J Strange and Co., Christ-church. Mr Mannering presided. The Chairman, in an appropriate speech, proposed the health of Mr Fritchavd. ami in the course of his remarks referred. to the enthusiasm displayed by their guest in advancing the interests of tho Pirates Football- Club. He was of ooinion thai the gap caused by Mr Pritchard's departure would be great. He stated that a riresentntion which should havo been made that evening would have to be deferred, owing to the article notbeing finished. Mr Pritchard suitably responded. Other toasts honoured were — "Pirates Football Club," "Kindred Clubs," Press." imd^'The Host." Pongs wer*». given by Messrs Childs, Pritchard, Nofdnn, Anderson, BoJlord, M'Taqs, Quinlan. M'Knight, Tloditson and Find lay. Mr Piirdis made an excellent accompanist.
