EXHIBITION NOTES.
Colonel Pole-Pen ton, with LieutenantColonel Gordon, this morning met the President of the Exhibition and made arrangements for a guard of honour to attend his Kxeellcncy the Governor at the opening ceremony The Lands and Survey Department has arranged to take up the whole of the corridor running alongside the main hall, and leading to the- stage entrance Men are now engaged decorating it, and the walls will be hung with a very fine collection of maps and plans showing the various places of interest in the colony ' ' Next Thursday afternoon, on the occasion of t'ho opening of the exhibition, almost all the business etftablisments of thee city will be shut, and it is to be hoped that the banks will also be able to close that afternoon. With the rest of the business part, of^lhe city keeping holiday, it may reasonably be supposed that, should the banks remain open, the officers will not be kept very busy.
