" ZADKIEL " ON NEW ZEALAND POLITICS.

" Mars is in the tenth house, foreshadowing increase of taxation, that military affairs will occupy the attention of the ixlthorities, and that'some act of the Government will bring it into ill-repute e.ud unpopularity." Such is the interesting political pnphecymade by "Zadkiel's" Almanac for 1900 under the heading " The sun enters Cancer 21st June," and applied to " Wellington, N.Z." Political prophecies are generally unsafe things to dabble in unless the prophet be the familiar oi the Premier. But " Zadkiel II." of England does not hesitate to have several prophetic shots at New Zealand's affairs befeides that quoted above. In Ills " General Predictions" for 1900 (campiled in August last) he makes this note in dealing with an eclipse of the moon on Dec. 17, 1899: " At Wellington, N.Z., Mars .culminating would certainly bring warlike proceedings but for the presence of Venus in the tenth house. The-martial sons of New Zealand will gain honour, the defensive forces will be increased, further tasatktn will be imposed, and a prominent member of the Government will be in danger." Again, in noting that the sun enters Aries on March 21, New Zealand is to have "a busy time for artists, scientists, lawyers, and writers. Highway robberies will be frequent. Horse and cattle breeders will have a favourable time, but an epizootic is likely to spread in some parts;"
