CHINESE MISSIONS.

The following (says the "Post") axe the principal missionary societies operating in China, and their districts: — The London Missionary. Society has apparently covered the largest field of operation?. It lias stations in Hongkong, Canton. Amoy, Chiang Chu, Shanghai, Hankow, Wu-Chang, HianKan, Chung-King, Tientsin, Yen-Ben", Chichoii, Pekin, and Mongolia. The .Church Society lias also a larere tody of -workers in China.' It was at Whasung in 1895 that the missionary of this Society was murdered' •with several conrpaJnions. The Presbyterian Church Missionary Society operates in Amoy, Swatow; Choochow-Fou, the Hakka country, and in the adjoining island- of Formosa. The Baptist. Missionary Society has twenty-five missionaries in China, carrying on work at Shantung, Shansi, and Shensi. The Wesleyan Mission operates in two districts. The British and Foreign Bible Society is also well in the field, and has pushed its work into many provinces.
