PROCEEDINGS AT THE POLICE COURT.

At the PoKee Court this morning, before Mr J. B. Sim, J.P., and Mr E. H. Ricketts, J. P. , Henry. Harris Divers and Tnomas James Trounsen were charged that they aid assault one James Daly and thereby .cause him actual bodily harm. Mr Byrne appeared for bota accused, -who pleaded not guilty. Sub-Inspector O'Brien, in detailing the circumstances of the affair, said that he would ask for a remand, as Daly was now in the hospital, and his injuries were so v serious that it was impossible to say 'what • would be the -outcome. He wished bail granted, so that one of Ms clients, who was an assistant steward on the Rotomahana, could go to Lyttekon amid make arrangements regarding his work. . The accused were allowed bail, each, in £50', and one surety of £50. DALY'S PRESENT CONDITION. Inquiry at the. hospital to-day elicited the fact that it was found necessary to remove the injured eye, and a fracturo. of the skull was also located 1 . At the time of going to press, Daly was in a very cmibai condlitioh, but was still alive. -
