THE LATE MR A. E. COOKE.

If . anything were wanting to show the respect and esteem in which the late Mr Alfred E. Cooke was held by all classes of the community, it was. supplied by the very laTge and representative attendance at his funeral, which took place this afternoon. Amongst those present were all the auctioneers, dealers and butchers who do business at the Addington and other markets ; representatives of the various athletic bodies and football clubs of which 'the deceased 'had .been a prominent member, and who all deplored the loss of one of the most con-, genial of their number. The- • procession left his late residence on "the Sou'tlr Belt for the Addington Cemetery, where the service was read by tie Rev W. S. Bean. A very large number of wreaths were sent by the bodies with which Mr Cooke had been connected, and by private friends.
