4 THE QUESTION OF RATES. TJnited Press Association — By Eleotrio Telegraph— Copyright. (Received April 24, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, April 24. The Postmaster-General has requested a conference with Mr Crick this week to discuss the Cape cable. An. understanding has been arrived at with the Eastern Extension Company that provided the Cape cable agreement is not signed by all the colonies by Monday the present rates will remain in force until the colonies finally accept or reject its proposal. Should the agreement be signed by Monday the reduced rates will come into force a month from to-day.
