_ 4* [Per Pbess Association.] WANGANUI, Feb. 22. Steps are being taken in Wanganui to form a Highland corps of volunteers, and already enough names have been handed in. The corps, if accepted, will be nampd the Wanganui Highlanders, and will wear the uniform of the Gordons. ' A corps of naval cadets is now organised jin Lyttelton. On Wednesday night they j held a meeting in the Colonists' Hall. The | captain, Mr Longuet, presided, and several .new members were . elected, bringing the number on the roll up to fifty. Messrs A. Agar and P. Roder were elected committeemen. * Mr Longuet addressed the company on various matters, and a quantity of routine business was transacted. • The Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry turned out thdrty-one strong on contingent Saturday. It is .worth, noting that twenty- three members of tius corps, are now on active service in South Africa; •' ■ • On the same occasion there was a strong turn-out of the Canterbury Engineer Volunteers, which was by an oversight omitted from the parade state.
