CHRISTCHURCH REGATTA CLUB.

$_. A meeting of the Christchnrch Regatta Club executive was held at the Christchurch Rowing Club's rooms last evening ; present — Messrs J. R. Evans (chairman), and Messrs H. H. Smith, F. D. Kesteven (secretary), F. W.- Hobbs, N.L. Macbeth, C. Allard, W. G. Atack, D. Lee, F. A. Moore and G. H. Cooper.' Accounts in connection with the recent, regatta- 'were- passed as follows : — Receipts £112 5s sd, disbursements £164 Ss 6d, leaving a debit balance of £40 Os Id. The credit balance was as follows • —Balance at bank £7 lis 7d, deposit £113 6d, accrued interest, say, £2 ; total £122 17s 7d. The statement was adopted. The unsatisfactory state of the finances provoked a lengthy discussion as to the best means of placing the club in a 'financial position, and the depressing fact that almost everj- class of athletic sport was steadily declining' in public favour, and that most of the meetings were run at a loss, was reluctantly factjd. An informal discussion was allowed, and, after the members had exchanged ideas, it was resolved that a sub-committee, consistin" of Messrs M'Beth, Allard, Kesteven and Smith, should draw up a scheme whereby the constitution of the club should be altered so as to make it self-supporting, if practicable, the report to be submitted to the executive for presentation to a general meeting at a future date.
