MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

The annual meeting of shareholders in the Rangiora Investment and Building Society was held in the Municipal Council Chambers last evening. The attendance was small. Mr A. B. Blackett pre; sided. The Directors, in their report, stated that owing to few opportunities of placing the Society's funds satisfactorily, less business had been done during the oast year than was anticipated ; and consequently the investment shares had been credited with only the 5 per cent as provided by the rules. The balance-sheet showed— Balance brought forward, £521 13s 8d; receipts, £4683 lis sd; total, £5205 5s Id. "' -Ptfymentsi £5816 9s, including loans £1550 . investment shares, paid out, £2358 3s 7d ; and shares withdrawn, £1080 18s. The liabilities were stated to be £6336 7s 2d, fully, covered by assets. On the motion of the. Chairman," seconded by Mr W. T. Wilson, the balance-sheet was adopted. The report on the triennial inspection of the fiftythree properties held as securities' was satis*-" factory. Messrs A. B. Blackett apd G. J." Leech were re-elected Directors, and Mr E. R. Good shareholders' auditor. On the motion of Mr Good, seconded by Mr W—T.Wikon, a' hearty votV of thanks was Accorded to the Directors, and to Mr M. Amy, secretary, for their services during the past year. This concluded the business.
