SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The monthly meeting of the Rangiora School Committee "was held on Wedneuday evening, Mr J. Marshall in the chair. The master's report stated the roll number fco- ba 419, a?d the attendance 354. All the pupils had passed their examinations, two with merit, and the others .with higher marks than in the previous year. Mr 0 Gillespie, one of the pupil teachers, had also matriculated, and Master H. Gillespie had won a Board scholarship. The Chairman reported that Miss Rose Anderson had bsen temporarily appointed assistant teacher until the end of the quarter, and if the attendance Avarranted, a permanent appointment would then be made. The question of an excursion was left to the teachers and scholars to decide. A letter from the Secretary of 'the School of Domestic Instruction, with reference to opening a branch in Rangiora, was held over until next meeting.
