* The first meeting of the touring branch of the North Canterbury Centre of the' League of New Zealand Wheelmen was held in the Clarendon Hotel last evening, Mr F.~ D. Kesteven presiding. Tha new bylaws of the City Council were discussed and approved of, and it was decided to ask the Council, in view of ■the many cycle accidents daily occurring in the city, to stringently enforce the observance of the rule of the road by cyclists. Reference was also made to the damage which is being done to the cycle path on the Ferry Road by drivers of carte and other vehicles, and it was decided to draw the attention of the Council to the matter. A number of hotels in the various districts of Canterbury . were selected as official headquarters for League members, and it was decided to approach the clubs with a view to distributing badges to all members. The necessity for guide-posts in many localities was referred to, and the secretary was instructed to write >to clubs asking *for information regarding their re-, spective districts, after which the Road Boards would be approached.
